I've been demoted, and now am the only chief engineer in the fleet who never goes to the engine room he's in charge of. I can't touch my fortune without giving away information that I spent a lot of time/effort concealing. Pete Daoust tried an exercise several years ago; He tried to go a day without lying. It took him over 18 months.

That simple process shows you MANY things. It makes understanding what I say a lot easier, too. ;)
