Read, "The BC Hydro Public Power Legacy and Heritage Contract Act". That lead to deregulation. That's why it' only ONE company. In Ontario, it's TWO. One to GENERATE, and one to DISTRIBUTE.

That's also why you don't save ANY money when you upgrade your home to be more "energy efficient". The cost to DELIVER the hydro never changes.

Public/Private Standards scams like "Energy Star" contribute to this by offering rebates for "green" purchases. When you do the accounting, you find that they just pull the funds from YOUR TAX that you've ALREADY PAID.

According to my comprehension of what Scott Duncan is pointing out above I conclude that the businesses that are pretending to be our government are using the classic fraud techniques of "bait and switch", "smoke and mirrors" and the ever popular "shell game" in various combinations as required. That's not "news" but it's enlightening.
