Just this minute, I have experienced a phenomenon called "reverse racism". This black chick just "unfriended" me because she wants to "help her black sisters" before she helps any other group. All I asked was WHY wasn't she helping ALL women.

Tara Duncan, I am very thankful you wrote this article. I am the first to make a joke out of something or laugh when I read something of humour, but I see the importance your of message. And, as ALWAYS, you are more than "on the spot."

As some of you know, I had previous interactions with LaNi Black (make note that she called herself BLACK, in reference to her skin colour, let that sink in), and I had tried using humour to point her at her prejudice against non-blacks. Lammi ain't got no time fo dat!

Everything is backwards. One can be presented as the oppressed minority looking for redemption for the wrongs of an evil world, but in reality one can be the oppressor, the oppressed, and a spreader of evil and division among the world.

Her prejudice is so strong, that she even felt entitled to steal the free conversation we had! :O That is so fucked-up, in so many ways. I cannot imagine having such characters in a position of power. Very dangerous.

A few thoughts on the concept of "Lammi". Lammi was not just a member of the group, but a frequent caller to our household. She consumed vast amounts of Scott's time during their conversations and he missed meals and stayed up late to accommodate her on a number of occasions. On one such evening I asked who was on the phone. The answer I heard was "Lammi".

I really did rescue a little lost stuffed animal from a mud puddle in a parking lot (actual story deleted - see above) who's name, according to the tag, was "Lammi". I had a soft spot in my heart for that little lamb, and the name "lammi" is adorable. Just say it out loud. So Lani/Lammi was born - reinforced by the fact that everyone yelled, "Lammi" whenever she phoned. Lammi knew the story behind the nickname, and she knew, or should have known no insult was intended. So sure, maybe the whole racism/censorship thing makes me spitting mad...but she went too far when she tried to make something evil or duplicitious out of the parking lot story. She crapped on the cuteness that is "Lammi". Nobody fucks with the lamb!

I could have become concerned about the direction this group is heading...bear with me while I explain:

2 of the groups' collective offspring (aka threads with value) have now been sacrificed, along with 2 animals, namely a puppy and a lamb(i)...

If I didn't know better, I may have previously likened it to a cult, akin to the old testament...except for some key facts:

Everything I have witnessed here is verifiable.

No one has asked me to believe anything

No one forced me to be here

No one has tried to sell me anything (Kent Kent Barrett's mugs don't count ;-) )

We can, individually and collectively take the piss out of our respective failings (thinking wrong and valuing the wrong things) in a true effort to deprogram the bullshit we have been fed

You folks are honest; when bullshit is called it is for educational, not malicious purposes...it is not sugar coated, but the lesson is invariably wrapped in intelligent humour

There is a genuine effort, purpose and and plan to right wrongs

I am becoming much better at critically assessing information which has simplified my life immensely

So, all flippancy aside, we may be fulfilling an agenda, but the wisdom/information and potential value contained here is immeasurable ('potential' because I still think wrong and do not yet fathom the full extent of what I am learning here), so Thank you all...no group hug necessary

But please, can y'all try not to sacrifice anymore animals, especially bunnies, kitties or carp? :D

As always, eloquent AND informative Tara. I am sad that I missed all the fun. I shall try to be as objective as possible whenever you (or anyone else) show me a possible flaw in my thinking. I can't say that social programming has been completely eradicated from my interactions, however, I think it is a mission I shall never abandon as long as I don't "lose" my mind. I think this place of truth is quite "fair" in that ALL beliefs are held with the same amount of disrespect well deserved.

Seriously though. Simple solutions. The car will be towed, or it will not. You have done your best to make this a non-issue - keep doing that. If your wife asks if they can tow the car say "no, it's taken care of". It is in as much as you have done everything you can to prevent it.

Worrying, or blaming you for something that hasn't happened will do her no good. She can concentrate on being a good wife and mother. She then views you as having done the "manly" thing - solving problems, keeping the family safe, and hopefully your life moves on. In the possible but unlikely event that the car is towed, you should show surprise that this should happen as it has been "taken care of". You resolve to correct the mistake. Repeat as necessary. Move on.
