Would this cover their actions?
This is correct Pete... the collection agency does not have a contract with you Eamonn just because they bought your debt. They understand the risks and that you may not want to buy it from them. The answer is YES or NO...I say NO :) You could also negotiate a generous discount since they bought the debt at a very steep discount themselves. Remember the collection agency is motivated to sell to recover their investment at the very least lol!
I stand corrected...they bought "the debt". Why? Good question Pete. Collections agencies have been known to make false claims against the PERSON and fuck up the PERSON's credit. Does this matter?
I WANT TO PAY.....I ALWAYS WANT TO PAY, just show me what I have bought, and that comes with an INVOICE with the goods and/or services I had BOUGHT.....
Yeah I had a medical bill that I couldn't pay. I was happy when they sent it to collections. I asked for a copy of the contract etc and they don't want to contact me anymore for some reason.
Hmmmm, if I want a car, but don't have the funds available to buy it, and some good samaritan comes along and takes care of the debt, without my asking....do I 'owe' this good samaritan anything?!?
Debt collector = good samaritan of the finance world.
Thank him for his good deed.
If I'm a cute girl in a bar and a nice guy buys me a drink, do I owe him 20 minutes of conversation, a blowjob or more?
Debt collector = 'nice guy' of the nightclub scene
look up the legal definition of 'nice'
I have a special affection for debt collectors because they help clean up any administrative errors I may have overlooked :D
