I was out for a walk Sunday night, went to cross the street on a marked cross walk , the simple flashing walk , so I did , there was a guy in a van setting there in the intersection waiting for me to cross so he could make his right turn , as I stepped out in the street , a lady come storming up the street and make a left turn and BANG she hit me , my kness went threw her grill and I landed on her hood , the buddy in the van seen it all as it took place , the police , ambulance come took me in to have checked out , no broken bones , but fucked my shoulders, back ,arms and both legs , she was given a ticket for not yielding to a pedestrian, and told the police she did not see me, it was a well open intersection, daylight, and good visibility I do belive she had her cell rested on her left shoulder and this is the case where she did not turn her head before turning , Now icbc her insurance ??

The driver was a young 23 year old east indian lady , she summited her report to icbc and said she was in the wrong and was on her phone, then the cops the next day give her a second ticket $350 and took her phone for 48 hrs , and the witness also give a statement that she was on her phone . ,

ICBC is a VERY WELL KNOWN ACRONYM... in BC. Hence I do not know what it actually means cause everyone says, "go to ICBC" "got a letter from ICBC" "my claim with ICBC is going nowhere", etc. :D

In BC you must get insurance on the car you want to buy BEFORE you get the car, meaning you cannot drive it home without insurance first. In AB you have a week. So you can keep creating a Bill of Sale every week and say you just got the car... which is why they stopped that in BC cause nobody was getting insurance and driving around with 3 day old Bill of Sales..

I was deemed at fault but she apparently was leaving for Thailand for a year. The insurance company said she has three (or four) years to come back with a claim.

So if I were you, just keep a tally of the costs, etc. You don't need to make a claim right away. In my case, its been at least 5 years and never heard about it again.
