pierre, there is a right way and a wrong way to do everything. i did not mean the WRONG WAY. IMHO every child NEEDS a structured day with not more than 2 hours of its own choosing. if you have nothing else for them to do, then start them studying chemistry and/or physics, and/or reading books that will teach them things, like HOW THINGS WORK. go out and get them a set of hand tools. by the time i was a teen, i could tell by sight what size/type a bolt, or nail was and knew the difference between an open/box wrench, wrachet and why you used what for which application. AND what Ft/Lb of torque meant. get them some old broken lawn mowers, and tell them to fix them.

my point is CHILDREN can NOT make educated decisions because they lack that important part, education. all parents OWE an obligation to provide that education to/for their offspring. if they have nothing better to do, you have to provide it, otherwise they will just wast the day away.

yes, this children word just came up yesterday for me. Offspring of a person. A person has a person that is an individual. That word, individual denotes a single person, which left me with one option since there is only one signature on that person. :P
