I've been asking questions to the registrar general here in Qc since december. Ask Pete Daoust at one point I was literally putting him in a very tight corner... And at that point, he suggested I ask a lawyer to help me with my questions... He told me that it reminded him of when the Formula 1 races were in Toronto they put a huge very tall fence around the racetrack in Toronto. According to him the organizers somehow managed to LEGALLY deny people to access that part of the city and to take pictures of that part of the city and the race cars, race car drivers, etc. if the picture was taken outside of the fenced in area. WTF? He said that the sponsors of the race legally made sure that the "people" had no right to access that part of the city or take pictures of that part of the city. He also said that a few people who took pictures of the drivers, cars etc and put them on the web were threatened with legal action because they had no right to take pictures or publish pictures of that part of the city or of the drivers, the cars etc.

The BD&M dept are most reluctant in providing this info, so it has been a long process as they try deceiving us by claiming that what we want (what THEY want us to have) is a Birth Certificate. KnownAs Colin, I contacted Dept of BDM in NSW by email and asked for the record of live birth. The first employee played dumb & was dumb or dishonest, so I clarified by saying the record held by the Dept of BDM that provided the information that the Birth Certificate was created from. It was subsequently mailed to me via the person in my pocket. I do not recall if there was a fee for the service, if so I expect it was the same fee as purchasing a copy of the Birth Certificate. Hope that helps ;)

I requested my record of live birth back in September and now I am told it has to be reviewed and approved by the managers of the department. Policy. I am still waiting. There is a fee.
