I have not been here long and at the risk of being eviscerated by the admiral here I go. Tell them it is your understanding that this property is owned "fee simple absolute" and that you require proof of claim stating otherwise. I would say hey I conditionally accept your offer to fill out these forms after completion of certain conditions. Include full waiver of liability, charge $500 hr to fill out forms etc etc. I hope this approach is not some freedumb shit. I am learning :) I want to know what Scott Duncan says because I need to start filtering out all the bullshit I've heard.

No you are still in the realm of accounting. I wouldn't CHARGE them anything, but I would give NOTICE that your time is billable for responding, should they not return an acceptable answer to your questions. Accounting and surety. That's all you should be focused on.

Am I right to view conditional acceptance as a powerful tool? I don't even have to get into the PERSON with it which makes it simple, correct?

Well thank them for the letter, but send it back with a letter explaining you do not understand and that you require clarification, and until you get clarification, you cannot accept their letter.

"This is a very serious matter, please send me a bill so it can be taken care of" What I've noticed of myself, looking back is that I've made assumptions that are not to my benefit. I was so programmed to be the debtor that I automatically resigned myself to the idea I owe and negated to hold requests for money to a proper process. "please send me a bill" and "who are you" (especially in the case of liars) are both really awesome requests and using them keeps me from acting on assumptions that may not always be accurate.

Something of interest for y'all... I'm currently administrating the probate process for my mother's will. I needed info from the deed to the property from the solicitor. He e-mailed me stating that my mother held a 99 yr lease that was originally started in 1973. I had to think twice for a second but then realised of course, if the property is registered it's registered to the PERSON thus granting it to the government...

On another note, I'm buying a property and am being told that unless i pay the property tax then the house cant settle. Payments need to be paid to a corporation called the OFFICE OF STATE REVENUE, (Australia). Same rules apply?

Latest update: The Collector General just dipped his fingers in and extracted the cash for the local property tax. He completely ignored my attempts to get a Bill from him! They created a new piece of MAGIC PAPER a couple of months ago, that allows them to just take your money if you do not pay them on time. http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/news/state-takes-property-tax-from-46000-nonpayers-30443560.html
