yes we can read it , good scan. yes you could have cropped it prior to scanning. a zoom lens on a camera is a mechanical crop. i find it much easier to set up a stand and use the camera to capture documents. a scanner is a camera, just a different kind. scan at 72dpi for a monitor, 300dpi for printing (monitor to print is a 4:1
