What's with the chick posts?

I'm reading through a number of things people have deemed worthy of putting into print, and frankly I'm amazed at how little has been learned.

These posts all have a commonality that, loosely translated, sounds like, "I know a guy that knows a guy...no names...and this guy has a problem. I'm not going to provide much detail because anyone who is really anyone should be able to read between the lines and KNOW what I'm trying to say."

These posts continue by providing exactly no relevant information that would describe the problem or the circumstances that brought the problem into existence; but they are asking for your assistance in solving it - in some equally undefined way. At least that's the impression I get as few people seem to be able to articulate a desired result.

This to me seems like "chick speak." The conversation all men (and some women) have had where the requester (yep, a chick) says there is a problem that you should innately comprehend, because "if you don't know, I'm not going to tell you."

If you are inviting conversation or advice you should provide the nature of the problem or event, the circumstances leading to the issue, and the desired result. It should not take 50-100 comments by well-meaning, but also equally confused strangers, to get to even a semblance of the facts.

If you don't have the facts, don't post your idiot problem. If you are viewing the idiot problem, don't spend your valuable time playing I-Spy with the original poster. I don't care how much you love the poster. I don't care whether you think the poster has intellectual superpowers or should be held in high regard.

For here's the thing. In the Emperor's new clothedness of things, if you respond to a post with your oh-so-pointless advice (for how could it be otherwise if you don't know the nature of the problem), you have become an enabler. You are lending your credibility, however insignificant, to the mix. In this universe significant interest equals significant relevance. Do you see how this works?

People love a problem. It has become popular to entice others to ask a ridiculous number of questions to draw out the information. But at what cost?

If you are the original poster, get your facts down. If you can't write in real sentences, use point form.

Why are you seeking advice? What, specifically, is the problem? What, briefly, led to the issue. How has the issue manifested, and what are the negative ramifications? What is the desired result?

Here's an example:

I will be departing on a cross-country hitchhiking adventure in two weeks and I have damaged my primary thumb. I hit it with a hammer while I was putting up a nail to hang a picture. There is soft tissue damage, and some mild bleeding, but no permanent damage. Currently my thumb is bleeding and swelling which will negatively impact my ability to get a ride. What is the most effective way to treat the injury so I can pursue my dream?

In this particular scenario the advice may encompass some probing questions about why you need to go on a hitchhiking adventure, what your goals are, or whether it might be preferable to take a bus. But at least there is something specific for people to comment on.

Are you here to learn how to think, or are you so eager for emotional support that you'll compel other equally unfulfilled people to feed your chick-shit shortcomings? There are soap operas and therapy sessions for that. At least if you pursue this option people will know you are just there to vent, and will not be enticed into trying to solve your unsolvable questions.

Think or shut the fuck up! I hope that's clear enough. If it isn't, go whine to your therapist... or the girls from Sex and the City.

...idiots.

Jeff Roggers

ever since the group with secret it kind of was a shock to me and I started looking at myself and wondering what is it that I'm doing that I could possibly be kicked out or banned for your absolutely right I'm an enabler.

August le Blanc

Anyone else have issues with shorting out? I learn .... all things I know, challenged... zzzt ffrrrrr zzzzp. I have to shut down for a while. Anyone else? Is this a chick thing? I am serious. Days at a time sometimes.. I process then get back up and have to re learn stuff I learned already.. It is challenging.

Tara Duncan

If you have to "relearn" something, what makes you think you learned and understood it in the first place? Discounting dying brain cells and loss of synaptic connections, if you assimilate a new concept you need to reinforce the concept by continuing to use it until it becomes like muscle memory. How many people learn to ride a bicycle and then forget how to do it?

If you internalize one concept you can connect it to the next one. Move at your own pace, and don't move on before you are ready. Most people learn nothing after about 25, so even small steps put you ahead of the proverbial game.

August le Blanc

Well, I have the aha mount, it comes. I have complete comprehension.... Then if I leave it( legal concept or point of fact about money or something like that) to go learn something else that is important like learning computing science and the simplicity of ON / OFF.. at the same time... Its like I reach a capacity of sorts, and something is overwritten... its weird.

Tara Duncan

Maybe it's the way in which you are attempting to learn. I'll provide an example. We will now learn a Spanish word.

"mantequilla" - man te kee ah

One day you're sitting in your house and someone knocks at your door. You are gripped with fear as you realize a man is coming to kill you. You're not sure why you know this, but he's coming and he wants to kill.

For no good reason you open the door and he pours a giant vat of butter on you - you suffocate and die.

A man has come 'ta kill ya. With BUTTER!

Mantequilla - say it with me.

Now you can appreciate that South Park episode.

August le Blanc

Butters is new to me, I have a pop culture deficit on some things from TV ( unless it happened to be on where I was visiting). I haven't had cable for years. It is not often I belly laugh out loud at media... LMFAO.

Sky Kittycat

Totally agree with you Tara Duncan....re-learn is a bit of a contradiction...if you did in fact 'learn' something...why would you need to go back and learn again LOL. It's the slow learner's way of rationalizing that they aren't as stupid as they truly are!

August le Blanc

Point taken re: Slow learning rationalizing, however far from stupid. Breaking out of preconceived fucktarded societal programming at 49.... is a challenge that takes its toll on my psyche. So once again my intent and meaning were not articulated to the full meaning behind the thoughts behind the words. Pardon fucking me. :-D

David Vilaca

I see how it gets in the way, if anything it filters the logic looking for the warm fuzzies. I love my mom, but man did she ever fuck me up. Be a good boy son, make momma proud son, and all the other methods of control I was conditioned with. I know you are far from heartless Scott Duncan, I read Tara Duncan's posts. You two have something very special. I guess I just have to reprogram the CPU (brain) to override the filter

David Vilaca

Its not possible for me to be heartless. I can kill, if its kill or be killed, I will do what I must, this I know. I won't filter the data you share, i'll cross reference it with blacks as I have been directed to do but my heart is the only thing that keeps grounded to my love, my head is (as of late) more often than not... hear, learning to reprogram the shit stains of yor

Scott Duncan

David Smile, you are too stupid to live. Kill yourself.

Empathy, altruism, etc., has NOTHING to do with the crap that misdirects you. You just think all of those things are "your heart". Here in reality, rational thought, and your "heart" are running on the same piece of meatware.

So, kill yourself. Please.

...and be humane when you do it. :P

Tara Duncan

In case anyone missed the point of the original post, you were asked to consider using your brains as a consideration to yourselves and others. I'm not telling you what to do. I'm drawing attention to the fact that you post information which is not logical. People respond to this non-information emotionally because now everyone is an expert in everything and can obviously parrot one or more sayings they have heard that might solve a problem.

Don't ask a question unless you can articulate the problem. Have a goal. Be brief but thorough. Don't waste your time on the irrelevant or on pointless conjecture - here at least. I don't really care what you do elsewhere.

This request does not just apply to this arena; it will serve you well in every facet of your life.

And stop it with the pointless drivel - don't pee on my thread.

Ceit Butler

Since we're on such a roll tonight, here's another helpful hint:

We are all aware that Scott is a pretty smart guy. He says plenty of intelligent and often witty things.

HOWEVER,

Simply memorizing said witty and/or intelligent things and then indiscriminately regurgitating them into random threads does NOT make YOU appear witty OR intelligent. In fact, you'll find more often than not, it has the exact OPPOSITE of the desired effect. (Not pointing any fingers here or anything, "Jeff")

Tara Duncan

I have a problem. Well actually I don't. It's a friend. Actually it's a friend of a friend, but I'm pretty close to old what's his name. He's in jail. Well I think he's in jail, but maybe he's not. I think he might have some problem with the law. Can anyone help? Maybe I just need someone to understand what I'm going through.

Ceit Butler

Actually, that is exactly what it means. If the ONLY thing you have to interject into a conversation oh, say, 90% of the time, is an EXACT quote of a "Scottism" that you have read IN THE EXACT SAME FUCKING FORUM, then YOU have injected NO value into the thread.

YOU have put no thought into it...you are simply parroting something clever that you heard someone else say in the hopes that YOU will now appear clever.

Most of the time, the quote you use isn't even relevant to the thread you're using it in. If you agree that Scott is right, try focusing on WHY he is right. If you understand the mechanics BEHIND the catch phrase, then YOU can converse on that. Explain the IDEA...don't just throw out the phrase without being able to back it up in conversation.

Ceit Butler

"Jeff Roggers: I am using a smartphone the little window is only 2 inches of one line so I don't see what is misspelled so I have to post it and then edit it"

Aha! I have discovered the source of your problem! Your smartphone is just struggling under the overwhelming burden of having to dumb-itself-down in order to interact with its operator.

Might I suggest a down-grade?

Ceit Butler

Umm, I'm pretty sure YOU were the only one here planning on shooting babies. Oh, hang on, you meant you were going to COMPASSIONATELY shoot the babies in the head, right? I've got it now...sorry for the confusion.

Robert Cormier

Forgive me. I too, especially of late as I have started to become more comfortable with members, have come to enjoy the camaraderie to the point of participating in gregarious and almost mindless bantering far too often. I do however, take notice of your reliable guidance and insightful input Tara Duncan. I thank you for it. You are ceaselessly a breath of fresh air in here. We certainly would all benefit by treating this page more like a place of learning and less like a social club. Complete thoughts, proper sentence structure, correct spelling and staying focused on the topic at hand can only improve the threads. I do appreciate that this isn't a game show where we have to race to hit the button first and blurt out the first thing that comes to mind. As you indicate, the development of these skill-sets, combined with self discipline, can only serve us in the greater arena of our lives. I will do my best to do better! You have my word. I commit to demonstrating this to you and the group. Thanks again. :)

Ceit Butler

Okay Jeff, I just want to make sure I've got this straight. So you hate cops for all the evil, cop-ey things that they do, right? For infringing on peoples rights, behaving violently and basically, just using their badges and guns as an excuse to bully and inflict harm on innocent strangers?

And you're SO sickened by these violations of basic human rights that your solution is to harm innocent children? Babies that did not ask to be born and have NO knowledge, hand or say in ANYTHING that their parents might be involved in?

You're telling me that you, as an honourable man, have decided that the only remedy here is to become an even BIGGER monster than the ones that you are facing?

Ceit Butler

But I'm sure you're right Jeff. What judge/cop/lawyer, upon seeing their children murdered in front of them, wouldn't IMMEDIATELY experience a change of heart and see the error of their ways?

I mean hey, it's kind a brilliant now that I think about it! Government employees everywhere, peacefully laying down their weapons and resigning from their cushy, privileged jobs, walking away from their mansions, and saying goodbye to the standards of living to which they have become accustomed to, without a fight!

Ceit Butler

"Jeff Roggers: that's what the Jews said when they got lined up for cattle cars and their babies and their women and their man was loaded up and all the way to FEMA camp"

Now I think you're just lying to me. I don't believe for ONE SECOND that ANYTHING I have said here even REMOTELY resembles something that was said by Jews being loaded into cattle cars :p

Tara Duncan

For the record, the Germans didn't have "FEMA" camps. I'm going to assume you're drinking Jeff, at least I hope that's the case. Your conversation is starting to irritate me. Also, for the record, you wouldn't like it when I'm irritated.

I suggest you stop now, switch to private, oh so private, instant messaging for your ridiculous conversation, or try to make a comment that has any relevance to the topic at hand.

Ceit Butler

Today 1:31am "Jeff Roggers I'm sorry I had to find out whether or not you guys were for killing kids I could never kill a kid I just had to find out for sure I had to make sure what I was getting myself into I am sorry for the deceit"

Oooh, nice save there Jeff! But I'm afraid it's a case of too-little-too-late. You've outed yourself in spectacular fashion as a baby-killin'-psychopath...on the internet!

Please put down the bottle and the smartphone now and remain calmly in your seat. Some nice men from the NSA will be along shortly with a S.W.A.T. team to collect you.

Pete Daoust

Asking something to freezebee is like asking something to a government agent.......you have good chances to get buried in some fantastic bullshit :D.....then you'll need your FABULOUS sense of humor to endure it....good luck Kate, I am going to sleep :D

Ceit Butler

Now you've got me curious so I have to ask. Why is it, exactly, that you would feel that THIS comment: " It is a glorious mustache...despite slightly resembling a Sharpie marker. "

was in ANY way directed towards you?

Jeff Roggers

well I have figured it out if you're not in a boat very soon you'll be dead but because I've been discredited by so many no one will listen to what I have to say. And I know that. saying that I don't have the ability to put a boat on the water. Yeah I know my fate

Ceit Butler

My "honest opinion"...you felt it necessary to qualify that, just in case I was considering lying to you to soften the blow? Do I strike you as the "breaking-it-to-you-gently" type? If so, allow me to dispel that fallacy right now. I'm the "brutally-honest" type and I don't pull any punches.

Do I think you are completely worthless? Well, I don't know you so I can't formulate an opinion on that.

I DO, however, think you are an obsequious boot-licker. The kind of man who needs SOMEONE to follow. Now you obviously don't fit into any of Society's preferred molds but being a Follower, you don't have the moral fiber required to stand on your own merits.

You're a man in search of a better man to follow...which still leaves you marching in line for someone else's initiatives.

You post an inordinate amount of crap in this group. Most of it is either copy-n-pasting things that Scott has said, or just pointless self-aggrandizing comments.

Instead of simply memorizing the pertinent statements you come across to be regurgitated at a later date, I'm sure, in hopes of impressing those you are conversing with, I have a novel suggestion. Try actually THINKING about aforementioned pertinent statement. Figure out WHY it is pertinent. Do some research of your own!

This is the difference between MEMORIZATION....and UNDERSTANDING. Even a dumb fucking bird can be taught to parrot "2+2=4"...but do you think that means it now grasps the finer points of mathematical calculations?

I'll let you ponder one this for awhile...

Ceit Butler

And here's the thing, you can continue to debate everything that's said to you, or you could actually LISTEN to what's being said.

Stop arguing about whether or not we are right. Just ACCEPT that you are wrong and start trying to figure out the reasons WHY that is.

No one is misunderstanding or "being mean to you" for having a learning disability. In fact, if you go back and re-read this entire thread, you should pick up on a re-occuring theme. The message has been the same all along, albeit delivered in a more tongue-in-cheek fashion at some points than others.

Listen MORE than you speak. If you DO speak, make it to ask questions. If you DO ask questions, make them RELEVANT ones! Try developing the habit of stopping and reviewing each post before making it. Examine what you are about to say and stop and ask yourself: -"Is this accurate and essential information?". -"If I DIDN'T make this comment, would it matter one way or another?"

And lastly, (and I really think this could be the game-changer!) before making any comment...just imagine you're in the middle of a serious, one-on-one conversation, talking directly to Scott on the phone. Is your comment worth wasting his time over? Because that's what you're doing...EVERY ONE'S time is wasted, (including Scott and Tara's) when we have to scroll through bullshit. Personal conversations can easily be had in PERSONAL chats.

Adam Thomas

Aahh....Gday. ...I was just rescued in the bay by the volunteer coast guard..we.almost ended up in bass straight. Twas scary but good fun. Comedy capers by our captain as he let go of the anchor & it wasn't tied off so we ended up drifting for about ten kilometers in very roughly chooped water.

Ceit Butler

Sorry "Jeff", but this is my last point, promise! I want to talk about the confusion a few comments back, the incident which led to this:

-"nevermind I thought you were talking to me it's obvious that you're talking to someone that I can't see them because they're too much of an idiot and have me blocked."

I'd like to examine and discuss that statement, especially that bit at the end. We can extrapolate several things from this, the first being that someone has found (I assume, just) cause to block ALL communications from you.

Second, as you are unsure of who the person might be, one can therefore reasonably assume that there are MULTIPLE someones who have found (again, I assume, they're just) causes to obliterate your digital presence from their online world.

Now I can't speak for the rest of the people reading this but personally, if I had MULTIPLE people in an online forum, complete strangers at that...people with NO vested personal interest or emotional attachments to me, go out of their way to block me just so that they wouldn't have to read the things that I post...I don't know that my assessment of the situation would be that *THEY* are the idiots here.

Ceit Butler

You're doing it again. Is this a subconscious or does it take actual effort to miss the fucking point on such a COLOSSAL fucking scale?

Stop locking on to some pointless detail that you feel qualified to debate and start looking at the big picture! The point of my last comment was NOT to encourage you to identify the blocker. It was to encourage you to identify the issue BEHIND the fucking blocking.

Ceit Butler

Stop typing and start thinking. This is the SIMPLE solution to your problems.

This whole shooting-babies-thing is a prime example. There are really only two options with that one; either you are a baby-killin-psychopath...or you're a sad man who's just telling people what he thinks that they want to hear, in a desperate attempt to fit in and be "part of something".

Seeing as how your immediate reaction once the shooting-newborns plan was not met favourably, was to message me privately with a thinly-crafted lie about "screening methods" in a kind of pathetic attempt to back-pedal...my money is on Door #2.

Rather than worrying about "saying the right things" to impress the Admiral, try working on acquiring the knowledge and skills to be useful instead.

August le Blanc

Oh man... give your fucking head a shake, stop fighting the fact that you are missing the point. Try accepting that some of the debates you engage in, like now, are pointless and valuing the wrong things. It's not a contest... How are you qualified to state what is most relevant or not. I know, I know...Scott says...

Ceit Butler

And no, Jay, the amount of attention he's receiving is just proof that Scott really IS the nice one...he'd just ban him. Tara and I are simply annoyed enough to play cat-and-mouse :D

Whether or not ANY of you succeed is ENTIRELY on you. Anyone choosing to waste their time and continue to focus on the WRONG things, does so at their own peril.

You can use your imaginations to calculate how much more time and focus will be wasted ON you if you do choose that route.

August le Blanc

Oh Kay. Copy that. Moving on now. Playing with the prey... I stand corrected. Point taken. As I type this ..."Who's on first" is playing... An old Abott and Costello routine, it seems somehow apropos. :-D

Adam Thomas

STANDING comes down to us...no one else....US....ME...I....I cannot call on anyone to help me with my own battles against the STATIST KUNTS....I LEAD....ME... I TRUST ME....I FOLLOW ME...I FIGHT FOR ME....I LEAD ME.....

Tara Duncan

Nice try Ceit. It's so cute when you attempt to give people a hand up; slightly less cute when they keep biting the hand and them scratching their genitals.

No one seems to realize here that we have god-like powers. Instead of trying to appeal to people logically we can simply delete their nonsensical posts. It will be faster and much less frustrating.

Ceit Butler

See, if you ACTUALLY learned something last night, repeating it should not be an issue.

Otherwise, this is simply another case of the EXACT issue that was discussed. Making pointless comments that consist of "telling-us-what-you-think-we-want-to-hear"...

Jeff Roggers

well now I can't respond because any response that I give will be misconstrued as " telling them what I think they want to hear" instead of it coming from my own words as the lesson that I did learn of not copying people and thinking for myself and asking relevant questions keeping to the post

Ceit Butler

You have yet to actually ANSWER anything, you are instead (and believe me, the irony is NOT lost on me here!), ignoring the ISSUE and quibbling over meaningless details.

Hey, this all seems vaguely familiar...almost as if I've had this EXACT same conversation already, perhaps at some point in the not-so-distant past. Deja vu! Crazy, right?

Jeff Roggers

hear" instead of it coming from my own words as the lesson that I did learn of not copying people and thinking for myself and asking relevant questions keeping to the post Edited Like More 49 minute I'm sorry you miss this part of my statement. but this was my response.

Tara Duncan

I don't think you realize Jeff that Ceit is a master debater. Well perhaps you're starting to have ponder it...but no matter.

As there are no comments to the contrary I'll assume everyone reading this agrees with Jeff - quantity over quality, or so it seems. Don't everyone talk at once.

Ceit Butler

I think you're right on this one, Tara! Why waste my metaphorical breath trying to teach someone something when they clearly have no desire to learn? Simply removing pointless, time-wasting comments is not only easier, it's incredibly gratifying.

James Baal

This post and thread was very stimulating... How do you get from A to B even when your car is crashed....point taken , absorbed, processed and evaluated.....system will reboot after package nervous breakdown has terminated.....

Tara Duncan

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but a number of you have gone to some lengths to prove my point. I'm not actually annoyed.

The closest emotion I can identify is embarrassment. While you all swear you are eager to learn or to develop as people, you work tirelessly to prove that you are a) not learning anything, and b) seem fixated on causing disruption or focusing on hurting others.

I resent that you waste my time with your idiocy and endless fascination with your genitalia. I'm not against having fun, and I'm for witty banter - occasionally blowing off steam is a healthy thing to do.

At this point, unless you have ANYTHING else to offer, be advised I'd cross the street not to have to deal with any of you. I really hope this isn't the best you've got.

Tara Duncan

"They LIVE with me. I don't have this kind of trouble.

I saw my cats play with a captured prey. They didn't kill it. they just played with it...to death. Quite horrifying.

...this reminds me of that."

Scott - I wanted to be able to "like" this twice.
