Or let`s say in ChiefRock`s instances with setoff, to write a cheque for $20 to adjust account to 0 balance. Would it not be more efficient to include `non-negotiable`on that instrument?

Negotiable Instruments are governed by UCC-3 in the States. So, ME shouldn't use them, but a corporation sure should!!

So, isn't contradictory to make "non-negotiable" a "negotiable instrument"? I just ask.

You have to have a bank account if you are in business. So, just put "deposit only" in the memo section on the check?

If money is pooled in a JOINT account that requires BOTH signatures, the money is IN TRUST, not a deposit.

Sorry Scott, I had read somewhere regarding crossed cheques, ie non-negotiable cheques and wondered if this was of interest. Apparently it is between banks...
