Often, in European families, people adopt good people. They become extended family. Non bloodlines become "Uncle Pete" "Uncle Scott", "aunt Gail" etc. It makes sense to me. We can't choose our parents and their bloodline, but, we can choose our friends that we adopt. This list is always organic and flowing as needs be.
