wait a minute, if the functions are the same/similar then it would make sense that they would BE a synonym of each other, unless there were an exception to the rule of synonyms just for members of the BAR.

so all attorney's are lawyers, but not all lawyers are attorneys.

Other way around.

All LAWYERS are ATTORNEYS, but not all ATTORNYES are LAWYERS.

We can grant the "power of attorney" to someone to handle our affairs..

There was a great quote recently about Dean Kory regarding this- something along the lines of: "It's HIS to GRANT/ATTORN, not for THEM to DEMAND?"
