Thanks Scott Duncan. Did I get lucky, barely squeezed by, or hit it out of the park? I'm thinking of signing all my government contracts this way. Signed Bruised Shins.
Curiously, they claimed that MY LEGAL SIGNATURE was the one that was on my passport or drivers license and that they were legally obligated to ensure that I was legally who I claimed to be. I told them that they merely had to look at the picture of me and informed them that I could write my signature on a piece of paper in the "old way" just to further verify that "I was who I claimed to be". Footnote: I have renewed my license and wrote Director for: followed by my signature. At Service Ontario I had initially tried this with a signature and I put a box around my signature - thinking of the FOUR CORNER RULE, however, when the woman scanned the signature card in the computer scanner, her screen read "Signature declined", or some such similar notion. I had her call her Supervisor, who called the head, or, regional office, and they said that the government wouldn't allow me to put a box around my signature.
I went to my 80 year old Uncle's old folks home to take him to his Doctors appointment just as I have done several times before. The employee/nurse presents me with a document with her employers corporate logo at the top and some spiel about him being semi ambulatory and other bullshit that I didn't read. She told me to sign it then I could go.I asked her why! She said the company lawyers got together and came up with this form.I told her I did not sign things crafted by lawyers. Her reply with a crazy mean intimating face was "What do you mean you DON'T SIGN THINGS" I retorted Just what I said I Don't sigh things! I went on to say "look I am here to take my uncle to his appointment ,are YOU telling me that YOU will not let me take him if I don't sign that paper.I then said That is for your benefit not mine! She looks at me now smiling and says you are right,I will get him to sign it and I said YOU do that.He had to sign as surety for himself to leave his own home lol I took him to the appointment lmao!
Pete Daoust: I went on Welfare when my mother became sick with cancer and needed my care 24/7. Can't collect Employment Insurance because I was an "employer" and not an "employee". Which is quite ironic because we are all considered employees. Being that I was requesting welfare benefits is what makes my case extra note worthy as I seem to recall Scott Duncan comment along the lines of...those who accept Welfare are fucked and have no rights whatsoever. PS. I'm not a bum. I've always worked hard and have been using my time to get myself set up in my own business once again. This is what I'm constructing now to become self employed (amongst other ventures) : http://hotshotstudios.net/ PS. It's starting to take off and I'll be off welfare soon.
Pete Daoust: Thanks. My pride was getting the best of me and I didn't want to say anything. I was raised to think of all people who accept welfare as "welfare bums". NOT TRUE
I was born in welfare Robert Cormier, I was was deep into it from 0 to 16 years old......today, I'm 47 and NEVER touched that welfare thing since then....I have broke the pattern.....but I will NEVER judge those who need it for a short period of time, I'm not in their head and not in their life....but those who live on welfare all their life and drink beer and are toothless and stinking....like my mother and father....I have no respect for those, I even have to stay away from those, I may have a tantrum thing if I get too close :D
I should add that I informed my worker that whomever refused my claim would find themselves at the wrong end of a civil case and that I would hold them personally responsible and I would also press charges under section 337 of the Criminal Code of Canada. It's my contention (until corrected) that my application was a hot potato that no-one wanted to hold onto and become the worker who would accept potential surety in the mater.
I agree generally with your sentiment about generations of families being on it Pete Daoust. Although, having said that, as a student of sociology, I understand the difficulties of breaking those family patterns as we only know what we are taught. Anyways, there goes any future I might have considered in politics. LOL :D
Haha....I have not studied it but live it, and it's not difficult at all breaking the pattern....except for the government part, not easy to be left alone by them.....they need me ssooooo much :-D
I'm "scared" of driving around as Dean Clifford does for two reasons: a) I am single father and I could see F&CS trying to take my son away if I am in jail as he has no other LEGAL GUARDIAN. b) I am currently not in a financial position to buy vehicle after vehicle after vehicle etc. to replace those that would likely be stolen from me. This leads me to a new post that I'll type up shortly. Stay tuned. :)
Good thing is that when they fuck around with one of them, like Scott for example, they shoot themself, it's like a suicide :-D, and me, lucky bastard I am, I happened to be here while this Noble Scott guy is about to fire back at his semblabe... :-D
It's all smoke and mirrors. THEY infer they are our best and most loyal friends and are there to come to our rescue at a moments notice, and that there are troves of them at our beck and call, yet, they are the predominant manufacturer of not only our fears, but, what ails us collectively.
I don't mean to pry. To be clear, i was wondering if you are from Ontario and live on a farm, or if tou arranged that address with a friend. I was thinking of doing the same for my address. Was also wondering what country/province/state because as I said, here in Ontario, they scan the signature and a computer program determines if it is acceptable.
I see... so the government decides how you are allowed to sign?
They can accept whatever YOU choose to give them! Why? BECAUSE FUCK YOU, That's why! :P
Perhaps the downside of computer programming Scott Duncan? Everything can be used for good or the dark side. Yes, the government program scans the signature at Service Ontario. The program implemented decides if it is acceptable or not. Of course the beauty of having Service Ontario is that they are not my servants, and, additionally, are now legally indemnified for their actions (as I understand it - trying not to make a shit stain). Clever nobles. Almost an impregnable ingenious, but for the problem solving skills of you Scott? There must be a workaround.
"they claimed that MY LEGAL SIGNATURE was the one that was on my passport or drivers license" oh, ok, which one? [should i try copying?] (lol)
so then the one i just authored on this napkin (for educational purposes), that is not. correct?
talking with the Service Ontario reps at all levels is like talking to a robot, they just say the same thing..."we can't do that" for everything outside of "their job" and if a hint of logic is displayed they say its ministry guidelines they're following take it up with the ministry. I'm still working on not attaching my thinking to my person when responding....I like what David Johansen said above..I need to work on that kind of thinking outside the programming
I phoned up power co. To make payment arrangements. They wanted my account number gave them that, and my name. Then they wanted my date of birth or last three digits of my social insurance number. I said no. This always throws them for a loop. Power co. Broad says I can't take your info and access your account and prevent a disconnection order. I told her all I wanted ways to make arrangements not change service or have it disconnected. She said can't help you unless you give me that info. I said so if some else wants to pay my account and they don't have that specific info you won't take that payment. That's right. Well I told her I didn't want any personal info about the account already know everything about it, just want to make payment arrangement. I need that info. You can tell me what you want to do but I can't access your account with out that info. I told her you just want me to commit to the legal person. She said that's right, something to do with government of Nova Scotia and how they set everything up. I went in circles with her for a while and then thought this isn't worth it and gave her date of birth. Then went to pick up corn for our chickens. They wanted phone number and address. This was really starting to piss me off. I said what do you need that for? Oh in case there is a recall on the feed. I said I'm not getting feed, I'm getting corn. Well we can't sell you feed until we get a phone number and address. Ok I'll play you're little game. They didn't say it had to be my phone number and address.
