This string of events happens a LOT. First there is some ASS that complains instead of checking the facts and speaking to the animal's guardian. Then some guy with a gun shows up and "does what they were told". No questions asked.

That reminds me of a joke about an "officer" and his badge being chased by a farmer's bull in the farmer's field. Unfortunately in reality, for farmers and bulls, someone or some animal ends up dead.

The cop was obviously in imminent danger and had to discharge his weapon in order to save himself. The tragic trauma the children endured is insignificant and necessary to carrying out the duties of said cop. /sarc
