Really?!? I was referring more to the points regarding parallels of flawed logic/initial premise to arrive at a position, how blind faith & belief without validation is harmful (in this case they use a deity argument) & the question of how can I be 'free'/fully in 'heaven' if my brother is 'asleep'/'in hell'...which is in my opinion, kind of why this group exists- to wake more people up...I watched the above following the original link & found that, for me it flowed on quite well, hence the share...guess I'm just too close minded then hey?!? ;-)
Naw, not at all, it's just that sometimes examples get TOO much focus and the original point lost from side tracking when the example becomes "preaching about sonethibg else...so yes its useful in the sense that it discusses things like flawed logic and blind faith, but, in my opinion, turned a bit into a sub topic about that ONE example. Maybe if it used a few ...politics, education, nutrition, etc. It woukd hsve had more appesl to me and an attack on flawed reaskning, and not so much religion perr se.
Had it dwelled on government" and not religion (which it could have) I probably would have thought it more relevant I guess, but still would question it as being a eloquent and well presented rant, but a rant nonetheless. Variety of examples always wins the day, and exemplifies the real main thought, wich often gets lost when the example is in itself a huge topic of potential discussion.
Nice how we can hold different povs and avoid ad hominen comments, isnt it?
Lol
When watching that link, my mind immediately jumped from the religious perspective being presented to the excessive penalties from government for victimless 'crimes', or one man made construct (government) believing it has the right (apart from superior firepower and force) to judge/condemn and/or impose its will over me when I have done no harm.
As far as I can tell, the world is made up of a bunch of different opinions, often similarly aligned, sometimes not & occasionally violently opposite to each other...as long as they are logically constructed & based on a reasonable premise then they represent a valid standpoint...ad hominem attacks/comments for me just demonstrate a lack of reasoning capability to express a point, but then again that's just an opinion too.
Thanks for posting the original link, I enjoyed it ;-)
